Surviving to Thriving Complex PTSD
Hello. Thank you for checking out my gravatar and soon to be launched blog, “Surviving to Thriving Complex PTSD”. Six (6) years ago I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD, rather than the PTSD I was diagnosed with back when I was in my late 30’s to early 40’s. This diagnosis was given to me after it was discovered that throughout my whole life, I had been a victim of narcissistic abuse. I didn’t recognize the symptoms because I was living in it. I grew up in it. I was also trauma bonded and iit followed me all the way through my marriages and past relationships. The last “unforgettable” relationship I was in forced me to look at my choices in relationships, and why I was attracting or so attracted to these type of personalities. It was through PE therapy that I came out of my bubble to see the truth. It was this revelation that woke me up and I became more aware. Living in narcissistic abuse kept me isolated as a child and that was what I was used to experiencing as an adult. Isolation. Whether my friends and family knew or saw the relationships I was getting into does not matter. They tried to tell me things they saw, but I did not see it, so I did not believe it. It wasn’t until this last “relationship” which completely gaslighted me pretty much the entire time we were dating, and we only dated for two years. But he gaslit me for more like four years straight. I’ve since been able to look at this last “relationship” realistically. And I see now that narcissistic abuse does have symptoms a victim goes through.
